Hispanic Heritage Month Ice Cream
We're continuing Hispanic Heritage Month with after-school ice cream! Join us by the double doors after school on Monday from 3-4 pm for a tasty treat. All proceeds benefit our PE, music, art and gardening programs.

GATE/E-choices Meeting
3:30 PM in the auditorium
Come find out more about the e-choices application process for magnet schools, as well as more information about LAUSD's Gifted And Talented Education program, how your child can qualify and what that means. This meeting is especially important for fourth and fifth grade parents who are thinking about middle schools. There will be a second identical meeting in the morning on October 9th for those who cannot make this one.

Crazy Hat Day and Shoutouts!

It's our first shoutout ceremony of the year and we're celebrating with Crazy Hat Day! Wear your wildest head accessories as we shoutout the kids who are demonstrating this month's pillar of character - RESPECT! Parents are welcome to attend, but just remember it's standing room only for adults.
Community Closet Opens
Community Closet opens Friday morning for shopping! Families are welcome to come shop for FREE for gently-used clothing, toys and housewares in the back of the auditorium beginning at 7:45 AM.
Shakespeare is back!
Theatricum Botanicum - the children's Shakespeare theater program for 3rd through 5th graders - is back for two sessions this year. Session 1 production of Romeo and Juliet runs from October 8th to November 21st, every Wednesday and Thursday after school from 3:15 - 4:45 PM. Session two begins in January for A Midsummer's Night Dream. The program is completely free, but there are only 16 spaces per session. Due to this limited space we will hold a lottery for each of these 32 spaces. The google form is open now until this Thursday, September 25th at 4 PM to enter the lottery. Please talk to your child to be sure they truly want to be a part of it. It's a commitment to an ensemble experience.
Halloween is coming...
Which means so is our annal Halloween Carnival! More details will be sent about it soon, but right now we need sponsors! So if you know of, work for, or own a business that would be willing to sponsor the event, please reach out! We especially love having Gardner-owned businesses be a part of it. All businesses that donate over $500 will receive day-of signage and a banner on the Gardner fence for a full year. Plus, it's also tax deductible!
